Popcorn weird red color, 4 days post inoculation - Mushroom Cultivation (2024)

Hey guys it's my first post and first attempt at growing. After inoculation with LC, 4 days later I'm seeing this bright red color on my popcorn jars. Please any advice or help still be appreciated

Temperature is stable at 73 to 75f

Looking at the subtle shades of corn, the deep and sacred history it carries, the possibility of any color emerging, this is what I see, so far, no problem at all.

Consider, perhaps, searching glass gem corn and broadening your perceptual scope, and furthermore consider arriving at a deeper understanding that you're dealing with a sacred power plant.

There is nothing "just" such and such about corn.

Ask corn speak to you in your dreams.

Fungi has a long and close relationship with corn. They easily speak with and listen to one another.

This color you see is simply inviting you to participate in this ancient and sentient conversation.

This color you see represents something even weirder and more wonderful than you suspect.

Of course, you can simply make some popcorn from the same batch and look more closely at the kernels where you will probably find pink nuances. Or boil some seeds without fungi inoculation until they burst, either way.

I appreciate your response friend. Considering your comment I will let it do its thing and I will look into its sacred history.

The color is even brighter pink in reality, there is no sign of mycelium growth yet but this red tint is growing surely throughout the jars. In any case I'll give it a week more to see what develops. Any further response is very welcome.

"Edit addition" I am aware of gem corn I am very curious about what the color change means too.

Popcorn does that. Something to do with the natural sugars from what I’ve read. You’re fine.

Unless you’re the unluckiest person on the planet and every single kernel had contamination inside the casing. Mold also wouldn’t be spread out so quickly if it was mold.

Thanks for the response, yes it has changed to the redder color evenly throughout my jars and there's no sign of mold or accumulated water below any jar. I'll let it sit for a few more days and see what happens.
